NAGPUR: Youngsters and adults alike are gearing up for Happy Streets — an event organized by The Times of India and Maharashtra Times — which is making a comeback on June 12. The street from Law College Square to Laxmi Bhuvan Square is all set to be a hive of various activities and fun.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation river projects technical advisor Mohd Israil Khan said, “Thanks to TOI for reorganizing Happy Streets.

It is a way of rejuvenation for citizens as the variety of events staged here provide mental and physical entertainment.”
Also a part of the city's Laughter Club at Japanese Garden, Khan added, “Laughter Club has been a regular entertainer at Happy Streets. The entire team, under the command of our guru Kishore Thuteja, has done its bit to spread smiles at Happy Streets and will continue to do so. People need these moments of happiness and meaningful entertainment.”
Channel partner of Thermax Ltd and KSB Pumps Ltd Lokesh Pandit believes that Happy Streets should be a permanent fixture. He added, “The event not only spreads awareness about physical and mental well-being of society, but also helps people at large to socialise. Such events are the need of the hour, especially after two years of pandemic restrictions as they offer much-needed social relief and change as well."
Mechanical engineer and social activist Kunal Mourya said Happy Streets can be an amalgamation of fitness and social causes. “Issues related to the environment such as rainwater harvesting, awareness about global warming and climate change should be included in some form or the other,” he said.
Mourya added, “Happy Streets evokes a positive feeling. Nagpurians need an initiative like this to be back. It's a much needed relief from our daily life with an added bonus of meet and greet with other people, and also to take care of our health since people are more concerned about their health after Covid.”

Calling Happy Streets a “celebration of togetherness”, Hillfort Public School director and former BJP corporator Parineeta Fuke said, “Happy Streets by TOI is a great event that creates memories for everyone. Citizens enjoy with their friends and family. With so many happy faces around, people tend to forget their age and enjoy each and every moment.”
